Matt Sartain

home

My home floats when the tide is up and it sits in the mud when the tide is out.  It’s a houseboat in Sausalito, across the bridge from San Francisco.  My workspace is under water and the decks are best experienced in the summer sun with friends, beer and barbecue.

treasure

Best kept in a chest.  I experimented carrying around a velvet sack filled with golden dollar coins for all my transactions.  My girlfriend called it “wizard shit”.

fame

Too stressful.  I want to go to the store and walk down the street without people bugging me.  I want my work celebrated – I don’t need any of it to come to me personally.

engine

Not so much the inspiration, but rather the energy, verve, and spirit that drives people to create new things.

wisdom

Something I look forward to having.

heroes

I prefer the unlikely and outmatched variety…

time journey

I’d go to a new years eve party on the roof of the Waldorf Astoria in 1909.

sacrifice

Nothing.  You can have it all. (just don’t be a dick about it)

vice

Living in my head.

cats/dogs

no/yes
cat/dog
i don’t like cat’s because they always want to sit on my lap and scratch me and show me their buttholes.  i like dogs but i don’t have one, maybe it’s time!
